Creating a sustainable and resilient Ulster County that leaves no one behind.
The Climate Justice Plan aims to empower Ulster County residents and small businesses, especially those in disadvantaged communities, to reduce energy costs and improve efficiency by taking advantage of state and federal assistance and incentives. The Plan will also identify projects and initiatives to ensure equitable access to the benefits of clean energy investments and efforts to improve the resilience of communities to the impacts of climate change.
The Plan originates from Executive Order 1 of 2023, which directed Ulster County’s new Chief Diversity Officer and all relevant departments, from Environment to Planning to the Department of Social Services to Economic Development to Office of the Aging to engage in the planning process. Ulster County Climate Corps interns are assisting with the development of an outreach and engagement strategy for the Plan through research and fieldwork.
