The next big step in the design process is happening soon! Join us on Tuesday, June 24 from 5–7 PM for an on-site Visioning Workshop at Midtown Linear Park (off Cornell Street). You’ll have the chance to share your ideas in hands-on ways—drawing on a large-scale model of the park, voting on program ideas, and discussing what would make this space truly serve the Midtown community. It’s a creative and interactive event you won’t want to miss. In case of rain, we’ll gather next door at the Red Owl Collective.

On April 29, we hosted our second event: a Community Open House and Youth-Guided Site Walk at the Broadway Bubble. With a strong turnout and five small group walks throughout the evening, community members explored the future park site alongside youth leaders from the YMCA Farm Project. These walks prompted rich conversations about the site's current conditions and sparked ideas for what it could become. Back at the Bubble, visitors reviewed drawings, discussed site analysis, and shared thoughts on early program ideas.

From April 7 through 9, the design team hit the streets of Midtown Kingston—meeting neighbors and gathering ideas at four pop-up locations, including along the Greenline between Cornell and Downs Streets, in front of UPAC, and outside People’s Café. The team also visited local businesses along Broadway, sharing project postcards and collecting surveys. Thanks to this effort, more than 200 community members have already completed the Pre-Design Survey, helping us understand local needs and priorities.

We’ve officially kicked off community engagement for the Kingston Midtown Linear Park project and have already hosted two exciting public events. The process began with a series of Community Pop-Ups designed to raise awareness and launch our Pre-Design Survey—giving the community its first opportunity to help shape the future of this new public space.
