Breathing New Life into the Trudy Farber Building in Ellenville

A renovation and reimagining of the Trudy Resnick Farber (TRF) building in Ellenville, with the goal of transforming it into a central hub of community resources. This project will leverage significant community input into the plan and offerings of the site.

The Trudy Farber Building is located at 50 Center Street in Ellenville, NY 12428.

About the Ulster County Department of Mental Health Office Hours:

A representative from the Ulster County Department of Mental Health is now available at the Trudy Resnick Farber Center For Human Development in Ellenville on Tuesdays to provide information regarding the services the department offers, opioid prevention, and more. Free one-on-one Narcan training is also available. Stop by and say hello to the Department of Mental Health staff and learn about Ulster County resources.

Ellenville Regional Hospital (ERH) Wellness Programs:

Physical Fitness - Free Fitness Classes on Monday’s and Thursday’s . No Registration Required.

Nutrition Coaching - Meet with our Certified Nutrition Coach for assistance with Nutrition Education, Meal Planning, and Individualized Chronic Disease Nutrition Planning. Call 845-647-6400 Ext 209 for an appointment.

Wellness Community Health Worker - Learn about Preventive Cancer Screenings, Finding a Primary Care Provider, Smoking Cessation Support, and linkages to resources for Social Determinates of Health.

Substance Use Support Community Health Worker - Get trained to use Narcan, Get Harm Reduction Supplies, and Treatment Information Options.

    On October 25th we held a community forum for the Spanish speaking community of Ellenville and Wawarsing. Working with Hudson Valley Interpreters, a part of the Language Justice Collective of the Hudson Valey, who provided two interpreters and headsets, we were able to present in Spanish and have simultaneous bilingual translation for an effective and comprehensive focus group discussion on the needs of the community. This vital conversation with an underserved population of Ulster County will greatly enhance the re-envisioning of the Trudy Resnick Farber building in Ellenville, as well as help us to improve how all county agencies serve the Spanish speaking community overall.

    In August and September we sat down with 12 local organizations working across Ulster County and in Ellenville to discuss how we could work together to incorporate more services into the schedule at Trudy Resnick Farber. Organizations including the YMCA, Family Services, Gateway, RCAL, Legal Services of the Hudson Valley, People USA and more came and brainstormed exciting new opportunities for Ellenville Residents.

    We're working on the nitty gritty of making these changes happen, from partnerships to timelines, and are excited for the upcoming programming to really begin in 2024.
